Celebration Time
October 21, 2008
Wow! What a blast! What a party! We were in Ontario celebrating our 40th wedding anniversay. It was also Wynn's 65th birthday and my 60th. So, we decided to throw ourselves a party. Why not? The fact that we are both well and healthy is cause for celebration alone. We have been the recipients of many miracles over the years and so have much to be thankful for.
Our special day began with an Open House from 2-5 p.m. complete with cake and root beer or coke floats, which Wynn and I enjoyed when we were going together. It was so nice to see some people that we hadn’t seen for quite sometime. I especially enjoyed a visit from a former principal and the secretary of a school where I taught, as well as a former teaching partner. If you are reading this, thanks, Joyce.
Following the Open House, we had a Pot Luck Dinner which was fabulous. There was such a delicious, variety of foods. Then, we had a balloon drop for everyone, young and old. Thirty prizes were available for those whose balloon had a number in it. That was a lot of fun. What was even more fun was watching Wynn hang the big bag of balloons and then, again, try to drop them all.
The evening finished with a dance. We had lots of songs from the 60’s as well as fun songs for the kids like the Hokey Pokey, Chicken dance and Bunny Hop, etc. There was even some line dancing. We ate again at 10 p.m. and most people left around 11:00 p.m. All in all, everyone seemed to have a great time. At least, Wynn and I did.
